'IDF Navy will continue protecting Israel's borders'

IDF Navy officer relates to the incident which took place near the northern shores of Israel

Commander of the 914 Flotilla, Lt. Col. Zohar Cohen was one of the IDF Navy commanders who took part in the incident in which IDF troops took control of a foreign cargo ship and apprehended one of the passengers.

"IDF Navy forces took control of a foreign cargo ship in which a fire broke over the night between Saturday and Sunday" Lt. Cohen said, adding that the fire was ignited by "unrecognized elements".

"During the incident, IDF Navy forces along with Israeli Police searched the ship quickly and efficiently, in coordination with the ship's captain", Lt. Cohen said, "During the searches, a hidden passenger was spotted, neutralized and subsequently transferred to Israeli Police".

"The Navy will continue protecting Israel's central trade routes and maritime borders", Lt. Cohen promised.
