MK Gideon Sa'ar of the Likud responded today to the criticism voiced in the past 24 hours of his daughter Alona, due to the fact that she is dating Arab actor Amir Khoury.

Sa'ar wrote on his twitter account: "Alona, my beloved daughter, is a private person - get out of her private life!"

Earlier today, Lehava Chairman Bentzi Gopstein asked Sa'ar to put a stop to the relationship between his daughter and the non-Jewish actor.

Gopstein wrote to Sa'ar in a personal tone: "There is no doubt that you as a proud Jew who is loyal to the heritage of Israel, are opposed to this connection. We're not talking about racism, G-d forbid, but about the existence of the Jewish People. Sometimes it happens that in the name of love there are those who forget where they came from and where they're going. It seems to them that we are a people like all the nations, and love is blind and goes above all."

Gopstein continued: "As a Jewish father it's your duty to explain to Alona, with love, that the People of Israel have a vision and a vision for the entire world; that it has a long tradition, a tradition that has preserved it throughout all the years of the cursed exile in which Israel suffered persecution, Crusades, pogroms, and the Holocaust.

"This tradition established a separation from the Gentile and the preservation of the uniqueness of the Jewish People. Because of the observance of this tradition we survived, and we were able, morally and physically, to return to the Land of Israel and establish the State of Israel, the state we dreamed about and prayed for two thousand years."

The letter was signed by the Chairman of Lehavah with a proposal for assistance for Sa'ar: "I will be happy to meet with you, our professional team, who handles many similar cases and to talk to you face-to-face, and we will learn together the importance of the matter and how to help Alona not sever herself from the golden chain of the Jewish People," Gopstein wrote.
