Al Arabiya quotes Syrian State TV reporting an explosion in Syria’s al-Motahalik al-Janobi area south of Damascus this morning.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported casualties.

"Explosion heard around the southern highway in Damascus area, first reports suggest a terrorist act," the broadcaster said.

They also reported injuries, without further details.

Also known as the Southern Bypass, Al-Motahalik al-Janobi is one of Syria's largest highways and connects Damascus to Eastern Ghouta.
