A case of the flu caused the death of a 15-year-old resident of Eilat, a week after she contracted the virus.

The girl, Noa Tamar Ben Shmuel, was rushed to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva after suffering from high fever and severe coughing, and underwent CPR operations by an MDA team that rushed to her home.

She was transferred to the hospital while connected to a respirator. At the hospital, it became clear that she had contracted a flu virus that had spun out of control and caused cardiac arrest. Later, the complications caused the collapse of other systems in her body, leading to her death, a week after she arrived at the hospital.

According to Yediot Aharonot, which reported on the case, Soroka Hospital shared "the sorrow of the family, which has agreed to donate [the girl’s] organs."

The hospital also reported that Noa did not have related symptoms and had not suffered from similar ailments in the past, and that she was not vaccinated against the flu virus.

A date has yet to be set for her funeral, which is expected to take place in Ashdod.
