The IDF announced that it would launch an investigation into the shooting of a terror suspect Tuesday.

The incident occurred between the Israeli city of Ariel and the Arab village of Salfit in central Samaria at approximately 1:45 p.m., after a group of IDF soldiers stationed to the south of Ariel responded to a stone-throwing attack by Arab youths along Ariel’s southern security perimeter.

When the soldiers pursued the stone-throwers, the suspects fled towards the village of Salfit. At the entrance to Salfit, one Arab terrorist armed with a knife confronted the soldiers.

Based on the initial reports, it appears that when the terrorist refused to heed the soldiers’ demands to halt, the soldiers opened fire. An IDF spokesperson called the incident an attempted terror attack.

The terrorist was shot and suffered a head wound in the incident. A report by Hahadashot claimed that the assailant is in serious condition, though this has yet to be confirmed. The terrorist has been evacuated to a hospital for treatment.

The IDF announced that it would investigate the incident after no knife was found on the suspect.
