"אסור לאפשר לרוצח לעכב בנייה בחברון"

The Jewish community in Hevron is furious at the Arab Hevron municipality's intention to petition the Supreme Court against the plan, expected to be approved in the planning committee meeting next week, to expand the Jewish part of the city by 30 housing units.

According to reports in the Arab media, despite the fact that Jews enjoy full rights over the land in question, the Arab municipality has a certain status over the land, and it plans to submit the petition on this basis.

It should be noted that just recently, the Ministry of Justice determined that the status of the Arab Hevron municipality in the Jewish settled area is null and void. However, another opinion of the current Military Advocate General, Sharon Afek, argued that such status indeed exists and does not allow for the allocation to Jews of land that has not been allocated to them thus far.

The Jewish community of Hevron told Arutz Sheva that "The Mayor of Hevron is a convicted murderer, his hands are stained with the blood of his six victims, and he was elected to his post boasting of the abominable murder he committed."

"We expect the Israeli government not to allow this murderer to delay construction in Hevron, even by one day, through futile petitions," they said.

Hevron mayor Tayssir Abu Sneinah took part in the murder of six Israelis in 1980, shooting them in the back from rooftops as they made their way back from Friday night prayers.
