An Israeli tourist was reported missing in the central Asian republic of Kyrgyzstan Saturday night, after fellow tourists she was travelling with lost contact with her.

The 22-year-old tourist was hiking in a four-person group including herself, an Israeli man, and two French nationals last week.

During a mountain trek, the group lost contact with the Israeli woman after the Israeli man fell off a cliff. The man was rescued by his fellow hikers without suffering any serious injury.

While the hikers climbed down the cliff to retrieve the man, contact with the 22-year-old woman was lost.

Search and rescue teams have been dispatched by the woman’s insurance company in coordination with the Israeli Foreign Ministry and Israeli consulate in Astana in neighboring Kazakhstan.
