Regional Cooperation Minister Tzachi Hanegbi (Likud) on Tuesday welcomed the speeches given by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump before the UN General Assembly.

Both leaders warned against the nuclear deal signed with Iran, which endangers Israel and the entire world.

"Something new began last November when a President with basic sympathy and a deep understanding of the needs of the State of Israel was elected. Today, for the first time in his first speech in the United Nations, we saw a strong statement on the issue of dealing with the dangers of Iran," Hanegbi told Arutz Sheva.

Will the United States cancel the nuclear agreement?
"The United States has no authority to cancel the agreement because it signed onto it with many countries around the world. The U.S. can withdraw or form a coalition that will demand that the Iranians change or amend the agreement. Today it is clear that the American president is not going to accept the agreement."

Hanegbi opined that the Netanyahu’s speech was the best speech he had ever delivered in the United Nations.

“He focused on the issues that are important to us and presented Israel as a country that makes a unique and unprecedented contribution to the world but also expects the world to stop the ridiculous and hypocritical pursuit against us.”

Can Israel be satisfied after this week?
“Certainly. This week is a dramatic week - the good meeting with the President of the United States, the important meeting with the President of Egypt, the excellent speech by President Trump, and also the Prime Minister's sharp and important words."
