A senior security delegation led by Mossad Chief Yossi Cohen arrived on Thursday night at the White House to discuss, among other things, Iran and Hezbollah's increased presence in Syria.

Included in the Israeli delegation were National Security Council Deputy Chief Eytan Ben David, and Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate Chief Major-General Herzi Halevi. In the White House, they met US National Security Advisor Herbert McMaster and his deputy, as well as Middle East Special Peace Envoy Jason Greenblatt.

"NSA LTG McMaster led the meeting from our side and we had a very productive discussion on our strong and continuing partnership," Greenblatt tweeted on Thursday night.

The meeting was held in response to Cohen's warning that Iran is taking over the Middle East and that Iranian proxies are filling in the gaps left when ISIS moves out of an area.

Cohen also said Iran has not let its ambition to become a nuclear power fall by the wayside, and that the pressure placed on Iran by major powers only makes their ambition and aggression stronger.

According to Cohen, since the "Iran deal" was signed in 2015, Iran's economy has grown stronger. The deal included a money package.

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said this week that "Israel's policy is clear: We completely oppose Iran and its proxies, especially Hezbollah in Syria. We will do everything necessary to ensure Israel's security."
