US President Donald Trump hinted that his administration is making progress on Middle East peace Monday.

Trump wrote on his Twitter account: "Spoke yesterday with the King of Saudi Arabia about peace in the Middle-East. Interesting things are happening!"

About a month and a half ago, it was announced that the Gulf states were offering Israel an agreement which would allow Israeli planes to fly over their territories for the first time and to allow for direct phone lines between Israel and the Sunni Gulf states.

In return, Israel would reportedly freeze construction in Judea and Samaria and relax restrictions on the Gaza Strip.

The plan was first reported by the Wall Street Journal, which reported that it was a draft document which was being circulated by the Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the Gulf emirates. The plan was reported a few days before US President Donald Trump's first trip to the Middle East this past May.
