The ISIS terror group set off a bomb early Tuesday morning in the central Baghdad neighborhood of Karrada at a popular ice-cream shop, where people were breaking their Ramadan fast.

Iraqi officials reported that 15 have been counted dead as a result of the huge blast, while Iraqi security officials say 27 people have been wounded, according to Fox News.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.

Officials told Al Jazeera that the attack was a suicide bombing, in which a terrorist detonated explosives placed in a parked car.

Closed-circuit camera footage of the attack shows cars moving down a busy street, when a huge blast engulfs the area. Cars are forces to quickly change direction to avoid the fire.

Addressing the attack, Hayder al-Khoei, a London-based Middle East expert, told Al Jazeera, “[ISIS] wants Iraqis to fear going out and this is to show they are still present and able to strike the heart of the Iraqi capital, even as they are being defeated on the battlefield.”

Brett McGurk, the US envoy to the coalition against ISIS expressed solidarity with the Iraqi people.

"Isis terrorists tonight in Baghdad target children & families enjoying time together at an ice cream shop. We stand w/Iraq against this evil,” he tweeted.
