Construction and Housing Minister General (Res.) Yoav Galant (Kulanu) called Tuesday for the elimination of Syrian President Bashar Assad, following a report on the Syrian regime’s use of crematoria to dispose of the bodies of thousands of the victims killed during the Syrian civil war.

According to a State Department report, the Assad regime executes as many as 50 prisoners each week, then burns the bodies in a crematorium near Damascus before disposing of the remains in a mass grave.

Speaking at the International Ground Warfare and Logistics Conference in Latrun near Modiin on Tuesday, the site of the memorial to IDF tank units, Galant said the time had come to rid the world of Assad.

“The time has come to eliminate Assad – a despicable murderer committing genocide.”

Killing Assad, Galant added, would be the first step in confronting Syria’s patron, Iran.

“After we’ve finished with the tail of the snake, we can get to its head, sitting in Tehran.”

“Lowly murderers and leaders who seek the annihilation of Israel, like Assad and his handlers in Tehran – they have no right to exist. The world needs to drive the Shi’ite monster back to where it belongs.”
