Gaza terrorists fired shots at IDF tanks on the Gaza-Israel border on Sunday morning. Though no one was injured, several tanks were damaged.

The IDF units targeted were working near the Gaza border. In response, the IDF fired at and destroyed a Hamas "military" base in southern Gaza.

"The attack was carried out in response to shots fired from Gaza at IDF forces near the border," an IDF spokesperson said.

Hamas officials confirmed the base had been hit in the area of Al-Fukhari near the border with Israel, but it alleged Israeli tanks and bulldozers had earlier crossed the border.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said she could not confirm the claim.

Israel is particularly concerned with Hamas tunnels used to carry out attacks. Hamas regularly diverts building materials imported to provide homes and hospitals for Gaza civilians to elaborate tunnels constructed for the purpose of harming Israeli civilians.
