A delegation from Canada will be in attendance at the Paris peace conference on Sunday, B’nai Brith Canada says.

French officials announced last week that representatives of 72 countries will attend the peace conference, among them U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

B’nai Brith says that Canada’s newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland will not be the Canadian delegate to attend the conference.

Israel opposes the French initiative, explaining that the only way to reach a peace agreement is through direct talks with the PA – which the PA refuses.

B’nai Brith Canada’s CEO Michael Mostyn described the peace conference as "tremendous hypocrisy”, noting that it “does not address major destabilizers of the region, including the Assad regime in Syria, ISIS and the terrorist state of Iran, which is obsessively pursuing nuclear capabilities and the destruction of the Jewish State.”

"Canada must maintain its principled stance on Israel and support our democratic ally, particularly given the fact that no Israeli representative will be in attendance," said Mostyn.
