Deputy Education Minister Meir Porush (United Torah Judaism) sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu following the desecration of the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, asking him to address the incident with Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and discuss ways to increase security for the holy site in Uman.

The open letter read: "I appeal to you following a serious and shocking incident which occurred tonight, the shameful desecration, motivated by anti-Semitism, of the holy site of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in the city of Uman in Ukraine."

"Immediately upon receiving the news, I spoke with the Israeli ambassador to Ukraine Eli Belotsercovsky and he informed me, among other things, of the Ukrainian Prime Minister's visit to Israel in about a week."

"Therefore, I ask you to express the shock of the entire Jewish people over the serious incident which has occurred, and to examine with him ways to integrate the Ukrainian authorities in reinforcing the holy site in Uman, and every holy site which attracts the prayers of Jews from around the world."
