Wikileaks has revealed that the Department of Justice (DOJ) official charged with informing Congress about the newly reactivated Hillary Clinton email probe is a political appointee with long-standing connections to the Clintons and their staff, Fox News reported.
The official in question, Peter Kadzik, represented Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta in 1998 when Podesta was under investigation for allegedly helping former intern and mistress to Bill Clinton Monica Lewinsky get a job at the UN.
Ten years later, Podesta wrote an email to Obama campaign operative Cassandra Butts praising Kadzik and saying that Kadzik prevented him from being sent to prison during the Lewinsky investigation.
"Fantastic lawyer. Kept me out of jail." Podesta wrote.
Podesta and Kadzik have kept in contact since Katzik's appointment as assistant attorney general for legislative affairs in the DOJ in 2014. Among the leaked emails are plans for the two to have dinner together, as well as an email to Podesta from Kadzik's son, who was looking to work for the Clinton campaign.
“I have always aspired to work on a presidential campaign, and have been waiting for some time now for Hilary [sic] to announce so that I can finally make this aspiration a reality.”
Podesta replied that he would "check around" for Kadzik's son.
Despite his personal involvement, no one at the DOJ has commented on the fact that Kadzik has been communicating with Congress on behalf of the DOJ about the investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server.
