A 20-year old man was was lightly to moderately wounded in a stabbing on Shivtey Yisrael Street in Jerusalem on Monday evening.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics who were called to the scene provided the victim with medical treatment and then evacuated him to the Shaare Tzedek Hospital.

The background to the stabbing is unclear at this stage, but police believe the incident is criminal and not terror-related.

The Jerusalem District of the Israel Police said that “a man with a stab wound in his back arrived at a store on Shivtey Yisrael Street. He is being treated by MDA. Police are at the scene. Incident under investigation.”

MDA paramedic Daniel Furst said, “When we arrived at the scene we saw a young man, fully conscious, with a stab wound in the upper body. While evacuating him to the hospital we gave him advanced medical treatment that included stopping of bleeding, bandaging, and anti-pain medication.”
