Speaking with Arutz Sheva over Whatsapp, Rabbanit Yehudit Shilat, a social activist who works to prevent sexual harassment in religious communities, related how, several hours ago, she saw an Arab man trying to seduce a religious girl in the heart of the religious neighborhood of Kiryat Moshe in Jerusalem:

"I want to share with you something frightening. It's the first time I understood what Yad L'Achim is talking about."

Yad L'Achim is an Israeli organization which rescues Jewish girls who have been seduced and then entrapped by Arab men, who hold them prisoners in their villages.

"It's the middle of the day, a girl is sitting on a bench near the Merkaz Harav yeshiva in Kiryat Moshe. She's about 17, sweet and innocent, and an Arab man is sitting next to her bothering her. He doesn't let her leave, and she seems distressed and doesn't know what to do.

"I get a call from people in the neighborhood, who warn me that the incident is taking place near my house.

"I run there and I see the girl, not really knowing what to do, and the Arab man is leaning towards her, trying to seduce her.

"I ask him what he is doing here and he says, 'I'm with her.' I tell him to take off.

"He, with unbelievable chutzpah, asks the girl if she wants him to leave.

"The girl - pay attention to how a young girl can be easy prey - says, 'no, I want to go,' as if she is unable to say that she wants him to go.

"I tell him to leave immediately.

"Then I sit down with the girl and she tells me what transpired in the past half hour, how she couldn't manage to get up and run away. I told her that I was going to wait with her until her mother arrived and I asked permission to tell her mother what had happened - so that she could understand that her daughter needs help.

"I'm telling you this so that you can know that the things Yad L'Achim describes are happening under our noses, and if we aren't sensitive enough to see abnormal things happening around us - unsuitable relations between girls and older men purposely sitting near them - then we're failing to prevent tragedies that can easily befall these innocents. So open your eyes and open your hearts."
