Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Danny Danon addressed the Building Bridges Not Boycotts international summit at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York Tuesday, an event against the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

"BDS has already infected the UN," he began, citing the recent UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) blacklist on businesses in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria (Shomron), and the Golan Heights as a "red line."

"Can you imagine, 70 years after the Holocaust, the UN is creating lists to encourage the boycott of Jewish companies?" he asked. "The is exactly the kind of hatred for which the UN was founded to eradicate."

"When the UN is opening the door to BDS, we have to respond," he continued. "When Jewish students are afraid to visibly support Israel on a college campus, we have to take a stand."

“The truth is the best weapon in the battle against the lies and distortions of BDS,” Danon stated.  “BDS is modern-day anti-Semitism and we must unite to reveal its true face and put an end to its ideology of hatred and lies."

He concluded by urging participants to remember the packed hall of people opposing BDS, and to remain strong in knowing they are not alone in fighting anti-Israel activity.

"Now is the time for us to stand up and declare that we will not allow BDS to demonize Israel," he concluded. "Together, we will defend our state and our people. Together, we will put an end to the hatred; an end to the lies."
