At a press conference Sunday with the visiting French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke about Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon's (Likud) sudden resignation last Friday.

Ya'alon announced Friday that he intends to return and contend for the leadership, after Netanyahu decided to give his post of Defense Minister to MK Avigdor Liberman as a condition to have his Yisrael Beytenu party join the coalition. He likewise said he lacks confidence in Netanyahu, and said an "extremist minority" has taken control.

"I hear the voices in the press of self-flagellation, attempts to frighten and spread despair. I suggest being rid of the weeping and the lamenting," Netanyahu said of the media reaction to Liberman's appointment.

Netanyahu touted his own credentials, saying that he is taking care of the future of the state and has proven that in the years he has served as Prime Minister.

"In politics they say a lot of things. I try to speak little, certainly not on the personal level. People swallow their words later. I don't deal with words, I deal with actions," he said.

"I - who fought as an officer and soldier in Sayeret Matkal and came under fire in battle and was wounded - I am taking care of the security of Israel," declared Netanyahu.

"In the end the Prime Minister leads the campaigns together with the Defense Minister and the IDF Chief of Staff, and apparently I did work that wasn't bad."

The Prime Minister said he is leading a responsible, firm and intelligent policy that has a goal of defending the security of Israel and also advancing peace processes and initiatives in the region.
