Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, spoke to reporters on Tuesday morning at the start of his meeting with Singapore’s Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong.

In his comments, Netanyahu touched on the case of Elor Azariya, the soldier charged with manslaughter for killing a wounded terrorist in Hevron last month. The Prime Minister expressed confidence in Israel’s judicial system, saying that the court would take all considerations into account.

"As the father of a soldier and as Prime Minister, I would like to reiterate: The IDF backs its soldiers. I am convinced that an examination of the event in Hevron will be done responsibly and sagaciously. In my familiarity with the military justice system, I am convinced that the court will consider all circumstances regarding the incident.”

Netanyahu also called on the public to lower tensions over the hot-button issue.

Supporters of the soldier plan to hold a large rally in Tel Aviv on Tuesday. However, Roy Baharir Perl, editor for the Walla News website, has called upon Arab terror organizations to carry out attacks on the planned demonstration.

The Prime Minister emphasized that regardless of the outcome of the ongoing trial, IDF soldiers adhere to a high ethical standard, despite attempts by Arab media to portray them otherwise.

“Our soldiers are not murderers. They act against murderers and I hope that a way will be found to balance between the action and the overall context of the event. In the meantime I suggest that everyone lower the flames."
