Former neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson ended his run for the Republican presidential nomination on Wednesday, following the Super Tuesday vote.

The announcement came on the heels of Carson’s poor performance in yesterday's vote, coming in dead last among the five remaining GOP contenders. Carson managed to win just 3 delegates out of 595 total on Tuesday, giving him a mere 8 delegates since the beginning of the GOP primary season.

In a statement on Wednesday, Carson acknowledged that his lack of delegates made a pathway to the nomination all but impossible.

“I do not see a political path forward in light of last evening’s Super Tuesday primary results,” Carson explained.

While conceding defeat, Carson did, however, appear to hint at a possible future in politics.

“This grassroots movement on behalf of ‘We the People’ will continue”, he said, noting that he will give a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday to discuss “the future of this movement”.
