The Nazareth District Court sentenced a Nazarean resident and dentist, Malakh Jamil Mubarak Hatib, to twenty months in prison for transferring funds to support Hamas infrastructure in Judea and Samaria.

Hatib was arrested after Israeli police received intelligence information that suggested he was working for a Hamas activist from Gaza.

He had apparently been instructed to transfer large amounts of money to individuals in Judea and Samaria in order to help build the Hamas infrastructure inside of Israel.

Hatib was detained while traveling to transfer 170,000 shekels ($44,000) to a Hamas activist in Ramallah. The money was found on his person and Hatib was taken into custody.

The Israel Security Agency said Hatib had received warnings by Israeli security forces telling him not to cooperate with Hamas and carry out the illegal transfer.

During interrogation Hatib admitted to transferring Hamas money from Gaza to Judea and Samaria, and that he was responsible for arranging the money transfers. He also admitted to transporting Gazans to Samaria on an almost daily basis.
