A man in his 40s was seriously wounded in a stabbing attack at a gas station in Givat Ze'ev, to the northwest of Jerusalem, on Wednesday evening.

Paramedics who were called to the scene provided the victim with initial treatment before he was taken to the Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem with stab wounds in his upper body.

An initial investigation found that a 17-year-old terrorist attacked a couple who were in a restaurant adjacent to the gas station. He stabbed the man in the neck and began to flee. Citizens who were at the station began to pursue him until he tripped and fell. Citizens held him until police arrived. The terrorist was taken the Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem with light injuries.

The attack took place hours after a stabbing attack was thwarted by Israeli security officers at the Kalandia checkpoint north of Jerusalem.

The incident took place after a bus carrying a group of Arabs arrived at the checkpoint and was stopped for inspection.

One young Arab aroused security officers' suspicions. Because he was not carrying a proper identification card, the security officers asked him to get off the bus for a more detailed inspection.

He descended from the bus but objected to the inspection, instead pulling a knife out of his pants pocket.

A security officer noticed the knife and overpowered the would-be terrorist, who was identified as a 17-year-old from Shechem. He has been taken into custody for questioning.

On Monday, a murderous terrorist attack took place in Beit Horon. Two terrorists attacked two women at the community grocery store, fatally wounding 24-year-old Shlomit Krigman and also seriously wounding another woman in her 50s.

Krigman died of her wounds the next day. The other victim was released from hospital earlier on Wednesday.
