Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is ranked third in popularity on social media for world leaders.

The report, published by international communications company Burson-Marsteller, evaluated the online activity surrounding heads of state on social media. The high rank is determined by the high level of activity that the leader has on social media. Both Netanyahu and his staff have been very conscious of the impact that social media can have, and his number prove it.

The evaluation takes into account all activity surrounding each figure's Facebook page, including shares, likes and responses, and evaluates them in conjunction with the number of followers the page has.

Ahead of Netanyahu is the President of Argentina who has 11.95 interactions per follower, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Netanyahu receives on average 8.11 interactions per follower. Immediately following Netanyahu is the President of Brazil, whose country recently refused the appointment of an Israeli ambassador Danny Danon.

The official page of the White House and Obama came in sixth regarding interactions, but first in total number of followers. Obama has 46.4 million followers on Facebook. In terms of total followers, Netanyahu did not place highly as he only has 1.6 million followers, though that may be due to the difference in population sizes. When comparing the total likes per capita, Obama receives an average of one follower per 6.9 US citizens, while Netanyahu has one follower for every five Israeli citizens.
