Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, went on record Thursday afternoon, claiming that Turkey has been bombarding ISIS positions with artillery fire since the bombing that occurred in Istanbul on Tuesday.
A report published by Associated Press stated that the Prime Minister estimated that 200 ISIS fighters had been killed in the past two days of the Turkish onslaught.
The Turkish army had opened fire on over 500 ISIS positions and has succeeded in exacting a heavy toll in what is being claimed as a reprisal for the deadly bombing which took place at the heart of Istanbul's tourist area on Tuesday.
Davutoglu said that the positions were all held by extremists along the border with Syria and near a Turkish camp in northern Iraq.
Reuters reported that Turkish Interior Minister Efkan Ala said that so far seven people have been detained in connection with the suicide bombing that killed 10 German tourists.
"The number of those detained in connection with Istanbul attack have reached seven. The investigation is underway in the most comprehensive way," said Ala at a press conference that was held in Ankara.
