Roughly 18 months after their son was killed during Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, IDF soldier Oron Shaul's family called a press conference Sunday to demand that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Hamas find a way to return their son's body for burial.

"It's been a year and a half and nothing has happened," Zahava, Oron's mother, stated. "This has to change; it demands a change, either in thought or action."

"I have no doubt that we must think differently so that we can get our sons, Oron and Hadar Goldin, returned home."

Zahava specifically called on Hamas figure Ismail Haniyeh to be truthful about the information the group has touted about her son.

"As soon as you prove it, we will turn over everything in this country and in the world to make sure a deal goes through," she promised. "I demand from my country: return my son Oron, along with Hadar Goldin."

"A year and a half has passed since Operation Protective Edge," she continued. "Despite the efforts which were made or not made, the bottom line is that we did not get results - and Oron, my son, did not come home as required and expected."

Zahava emphasized that, even now, "we, the family, have no solid or proven information that Oron is alive or not alive, is injured or dead - we are in a constant state of uncertainty."

"We sent our children, Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin, to serve for the State of Israel. We deposited them in the hands of military commanders who sent them to protect our home," she added.  "[To] those commanders and state leaders, I remind you that one of the fundamental values of the military over the years has been not leaving and abandoning the wounded and dead on the ground."

"You have a duty and responsibility to bring the boys home, in any way and under any conditions, and as soon as possible. "
