Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Aryeh Stern, lit Hanukkah candles at the Kotel Plaza earlier this evening with opposition leader, Yitzhak Herzog, and addressed the crowd.

Rabbi Stern said that the victory was not only a political victory but also cultural triumph of Judaism in front of the Greek culture and attempt to destroy Judaism.

He added that "lighting the candles represents a victory", and thanked the IDF soldiers for their work so “we are be able to carry on a normal life.”
