A rare cold front will move into Israel over the weekend after several days of clouds and localized rain.

Cold air from the east coupled by heavy winds from the north explains the severity of the cold front as well as the dryness expected to accompany it.

The peak of the cold weather is expected on Saturday night and Sunday, with temperatures as low as 0° Celsius (32°F) expected in certain places across the country.

Despite the predicted dryness, moisture might penetrate the area, possibly even bringing snow or frost to valleys in northern Israel.

The forecast for Thursday will be partly cloudy with local rain and a gradual decrease in temperatures. At noon, rain in northern Israel is expected to stop, with rain ceasing in central Israel and the northern Negev later in the afternoon.

Friday will be pleasant but be unseasonably chilly, with temperatures continuing to fall even further on Saturday.

Temperatures on Thursday: Golan Heights - 16°C (60.8°F), Haifa - 17° (62.6°), Tel Aviv - 19° (66.2°), Shfela region - 19° (66.2°), Jerusalem - 13° (55.4°), Be'er Sheva - 18° (64.4°), and Eilat - 23° (73.4°).
