One person has been lightly wounded in a suspected car ramming attack in northern Samaria.

The Palestinian vehicle which struck the victim sped away from the scene immediately. Security forces have erected checkpoints throughout the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle.

The victim, an 18-year-old, was struck near Homesh, a Jewish town destroyed during the 2005 Disengagement but which has seen repeated attempts to resettle it since.

He was evacuated by car to the entrance of the nearby town of Shavei Shomron, where he received first aid treatment before being taken to Petah Tikvah's Beilinson hospital in light condition.

The suspected attack in Samaria comes just one hour after a stabbing in central Jerusalem, next to the capital's iconic Mahane Yehuda Market.

Four people were injured in that attack, one moderately and three lightly. Both terrorists were shot by security forces, one of them fatally.
