The stabbing of an Israeli civilian in Eilat two weeks was a terror attack, it was cleared for publication on Thursday.
The Israeli Security Agency and the Israel Police apprehended the perpetrator, whereupon they determined he had acted out of nationalist motivations and was, therefore, a terrorist.
He has been identified as Nadal Yousef Younes Jabarin, a 24-year-old Israeli Arab from Umm al-Fahm who had resided in Eilat for a number of years.
One Israeli was lightly wounded after being stabbed in the back during the attack at the end of October in Israel's southernmost city.
The Israel Security Agency revealed Thursday that Jabarin had committed the attack for nationalistic reasons, after being inspired by a spate of footage published on social media documenting other recent attacks.
Evidence from the investigation has been transferred to the Southern District Attorney's Office; an indictment against the terrorist is expected to be filed in the coming days.
Immediately after the attack, Eilat precinct commander Kobi Cohen said his officers "will continue to work with reinforced strength and maintain a high operational threshold for the safety of residents."
