Several homes have been flooded Monday in Ashkelon, after heavy rains poured down on the southern coastal city, and the flooding has reached Barzilai Hospital. The hospital said the water has flooded most of its area and that for the time being, it will not be carrying out any activities that can be postponed.

At least 20 mm of rain were measured there within a short period of time.

The Ashkelon Police, along with Lachish District Police and Naval Police reported finding several citizens stranded in their vehicles and surrounded by deep water.

The most meaningful damage was caused on Ben Yehuda Street, where a section of the road and sidewalk collapsed into a deep hole that opened up as a result of the rain.

Police decided to close off the road to traffic until further notice.
