President Reuven Rivlin held a working meeting at his residence on Tuesday with the Vice President and Foreign Minister of Panama, Isabel Saint Malo de Alvarado.

The President welcomed the Vice President and noted that her reputation and achievements were well known and highly regarded in Israel.

He asked that she convey his warm wishes to the President and the people of Panama.

"We appreciate greatly the great friendship and understanding between our two countries, even when we agree to disagree," he stated. 

The President congratulated the Vice President on her participation in the international women leaders conference in Israel, and said he was proud that gender equality was a cornerstone of the Zionist movement from its earliest days.

The Vice President thanked the President for his warm welcome.

"This is my first time in Israel and I am grateful to you and to all the Government of Israel for the warm welcome I have received," she said. "Israel is a beautiful country so full of history which one can always learn about, but it is another thing to be here and experience it firsthand."

"We are proud of our bilateral relations which are stronger than ever," she added. "We are also working to establish direct flights between Israel and Panama as a key way to strengthening our cooperation."
