Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Liberman heavily criticized the Israeli government Sunday, amid rumors that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu may be ready to begin peace talks with the Palestinian Authority despite - or because of - the current terror wave.

"Terror is becoming more sophisticated, and we are the ones remaining static," the former Foreign Minister fired, in a morning interview with 103FM.

Liberman noted that the government appears to be marked by confusion, and that Israel's future "depends on the decision-makers, who are still stuttering."

"I hear that the Prime Minister has been ready to meet [PA chairman Mahmoud] Abbas and begin negotiations - and [Education Minister Naftali] Bennett [has said] just the opposite, that we won't establish a Palestinian state and that Abbas is a terrorist," he said.  "It is impossible to conduct foreign policy and present a united State of Israel like this; this is simply a badge of shame."

"We must put an end to this terror wave," he added. "Every two years we are facing a new wave of terror."

"We have all the tools and all the power to restore security in a short time, but for that we need determination," he reflected. "We need a clear goal - not achieving quiet short term, but gaining security in the long term."

"We need a government with a different methodology and a different viewpoint."

Liberman's remarks have become more and more pointed as terror in Israel continues, with the outspoken Yisrael Beytenu head likely hoping to capitalize on Israelis' frustration to bolster his credentials as a "true" right-wing alternative.

If so, his strategy appears to be working. Israelis believe Liberman is most capable of stopping the current terror wave, a Channel 2 poll revealed Saturday night, far more than either Netanyahu or Bennett.
