New facts have emerged in the mass shooting that took place on Thursday at Umpqua Community College in Oregon, indicating that the shooter specifically targeted Christians for murder.

The 26-year-old gunman Chris Harper-Mercer murdered nine people and wounded at least seven others before being killed in a shootout with police, according to official updated figures.

“The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were Christian,” wrote one woman on Twitter who said her grandmother was in the classroom where Harper-Mercer began his rampage.

"If they said yes, then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs.”

One student of the college, 18-year-old Kortney Moore, told the local News-Review that she was in a writing class when a bullet crashed through the window.

She witnessed her teacher getting shot in the head before the gunman demanded people say what their religion was before shooting at them.

Harper-Mercer had no fewer than four guns on him during the attack, including a rifle and three handguns, reports CNN.

He was reportedly obsessed with the Irish Republican Party's (IRA) terror tactics and purchased Nazi memorabilia according to his online profiles.
