Fresh from his battle with anti-Israel boycotters, American Jewish reggae sensation Matisyahu took his stand against the "BDS" Israel boycott movement one step further, meeting with the leading political representative of Jewish communities in Judea and Samara.

Matisyahu met with the head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, and in an exclusive interview with Arutz Sheva said that the recent controversy over his performance at Spain's Rototom Sunsplash festival had backfired badly on the BDS movement.

Anti-Israel activists were roundly excoriated and accused of blatant anti-Semitism for targeting the Jewish artist - who isn't even Israeli - simply because he has expressed support for the State of Israel in the past.

"The BDS really stuck their foot in their mouths... all the Jews came out and fought for it and said, no, this isn't right and what they're doing is wrong," Matisyahu said, hailing the response of supporters of Israel in highlighting the case and fighting back.

"I feel like in this case we won the battle," he added.

Matisyahu said he hoped that successful defense would energize the pro-Israel movement to fight back against a concerted anti-Israel boycott campaign.

Targeting a Jewish artists - even those who are not Israeli - sent a clear message to Jews throughout the world that they are part of the struggle whether they like it or not, he noted.

"If Jews all over the world are taking some responisibiltiy and feeling connected to it and realizing that its not just happening to Israeli artists or  Israeli scientists, but it's going to happen to anyone who loves Israel, anyone who feels connected to Israel - they're going to try to spin this on you, and you're part of this now."

"The thing that brings the Jewish people together... is opposition, and that's what BDS doesn't realize."
