A leading Iranian MP revealed on national TV last week that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi threw a pen at US Secretary of State John Kerry during the Iran nuclear talks.

MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee in Iran's parliament, made the comments which were broadcast by IRINN (Islamic Republic of Iran News Network), Arutz Sheva has learned.

According to the influential MP, Araqchi, who acted as chief nuclear negotiator in the talks, was involved in a heated exchanged with Kerry during which Kerry slammed his hand on the table, making a pen jump.

Araqchi responded as if Kerry had intentionally made the pen fly at him, and reacted by throwing it back at the American Secretary of State.

The comments, in Farsi, can be viewed below.

Negotiations over the controversial Iran nuclear deal had no shortage of drama and tension, with most of the action occurring between Kerry and Araqchi's superior, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

In early July, Zarif intensely shouted at Kerry to the point that his shouts could be heard throughout the ritzy Palais Coburg in Vienna where talks were held. By shouting, Zarif ignored Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's instructions not to shout at Kerry that were given after a number of previous outbursts.

Among other things, Zarif angrily screamed at Kerry to "never threaten an Iranian!"

But despite the hostilities and the deal's resulting threats of a Middle East nuclear arms race, Kerry and Zarif have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
