Border Police officers were able on Thursday night to foil a planned stabbing attack near Hevron.

The incident began when an 18-year-old Palestinian Arab arrived at a Border Police station. The officers noticed that the suspect was acting suspiciously and called on him to stop.

As the officers were arresting the suspect, he dropped a knife that he was carrying on his body.

The officers then moved quickly to neutralize and arrest the terrorist.

“We have witnessed repeated attempts to attack our forces, and in this incident as well, the fighters demonstrated professionalism and determination that prevented a more serious incident,” said company commander Jerys Jerys after the incident.

Upon interrogation, the Arab admitted that he intended to stab a policeman or one of the local residents. He was taken in for further questioning by the Judea and Samaria District of the police.

The foiled attack is the latest in a series of repeated terrorist attacks in the Judea and Samaria region, the last of which came on Monday night, when Malachi Moshe Rosenfeld was killed and three others were wounded in a shooting attack near Shvut Rachel in the Binyamin region.

On Tuesday, sources in the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) admitted that a terror cell appears to be at large in the Binyamin region north of Jerusalem, although they did not say if the cell had any connection to Hamas.

On Wednesday, Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon visited wounded Israelis from the latest terror attacks and vowed to put an end to terrorism.

"We have thwarted over two hundred attempted attacks since the beginning of last year, and we will also get to these murderers and terrorists," said Netanyahu. "We will also exact a heavy price on the terrorists and their dispatchers and their supporters."
