After an unusually warm holiday week, the weekend brought with it a torrent of wintry weather all across Israel. And the rainfall and cold temperatures are not letting up Sunday.

Rain will continue to fall all day Sunday from the north down to the Negev, with temperatures much lower than the average. While, heavy rain will be felt mostly in the center of the country, thunderstorms are expected throughout Israel.

Snow has also not stopped falling on Mount Hermon. After seeing ten centimeters (four inches) on Saturday, site workers estimate the mount will get 20 centimeters of snow in total. The ski resort has been closed and will only open again on Monday.

There is also a fear of heavy flooding, and as such, travelers are barred from touring several near several rivers. Eastern and southern rivers are particularly in danger of flooding over and causing damage.

Temperatures have dropped significantly since last Thursday. On Sunday, the highs are: 10°C (50°F) in Katzrin, 14° (57°) in Nahriya, 15° (59°) in Tiberies, 12° (54°) in Haifa, 15° (59°) in Tel Aviv, 9° (48°) in Jerusalem, 14° (57°) in Beersheva, 15° (59°) in Ashkelon, and 21° (70°) in Eilat.

A smattering of rain will continue on Monday and Tuesday with a slight rise in temperature that is still below the seasonal average. Only on Wednesday will spring-like weather return to Israel, although there may be some rainfall in the east of the country.
