Representatives of the Jewish Home party - including former Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel, MK Ayelet Shaked, and new MK Yinon Magal arrived at the President's Residence in Jerusalem on Sunday, to recommend Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu be appointed as premier and be tasked with forming the new government.

"We are gathered here after a tumultuous and stressful election," Rivlin said, adding that "dialogue is the only way to return communication between Israel and its elected officials."

"The People have clearly decided," he added.

Shaked stated to Rivlin that Jewish Home has decided to recommend Netanyahu as Prime Minister, "as we have said throughout our campaign, from start to finish."

Rivlin once again promised to give the task of forming a coalition to the party best suited to assemble a government, ''and because the law is not listed and not clear enough, it may be necessary to amend the law."

The President stressed that ''all the talk heard during the election campaign that the head of the largest party is responsible for the formation of the government, were without basis."
