Religious and haredi Jersualemites expressed concern Thursday over an event sponsored by the Jerusalem municipality for Friday.

The Front Stage Event, usually held during the summer months, is making a mid-winter appearance at Cinema City in Jerusalem on Friday. The event is set to begin at 10 AM, but it's unlikely to end by 4:50 PM, candle lighting time on Friday, February 13.

Front Stage is a music event that usually features top artists, who give free performances. The events are usually held outdoors on Thursday nights and Friday mornings in the summer.

In its winter edition, the Front Stage event will feature discounted movies and shows, including stand-up comedy, all taking place at the new Cinema City site in Jerusalem.

Part of the event will be a concert that is set to begin at about 4 PM – not long before Shabbat will start. Residents of the area, who are mostly religious, said they were very concerned about the possibility that the event could continue on to Shabbat.

A spokesperson for the municipality said that inspectors would ensure that the event ends on time.
