Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman has called for a fierce and swift IDF response to clashes in the north on Wednesday, after Hezbollah fired two antitank missiles at IDF forces from the Har Dov area Wednesday morning, wounding six people.

Liberman, speaking with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a meeting on Chinese-Israeli foreign relations, adamantly advocated a change in Israeli policy regarding the response to foreign aggression, proposing that Israel hit back hard and disproportionately, "as the US or China would if attacks were on their own soil."

The Foreign Minister also told his Chinese counterpart that he expects Israel to receive support from its allies in these situations, noting that such a change should be implemented as part of an international shift in how countries respond to terrorism. Only then could the West achieve the necessary deterrence, in his view, against Islamism.

Liberman stressed that ''the world's terrorist organizations operate under different names but have the same goal: to work against the West and the Middle East."

Hours before, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu issued another threatening warning from Sderot, saying: "Anyone who tries to challenge us in the north should look at what happened to Hamas, not far from here, which was recently dealt the hardest blow it has received since its creation."
