Israeli music fans were disappointed last year as the Hamas terror war cancelled a Neil Young concert, and the BDS movement apparently led the Beach Boys to cancel a November concert - now they are to be recompensed several times over as the American superstar pop-rock band One Republic on Wednesday announced a May concert date for Tel Aviv.

As part of the tour for its wildly popular third album Native that released last year and featured the top hit Counting Stars, One Republic announced on Twitter Wednesday "we added another date to the #Native Tour! We will be coming to Tel Aviv, Israel on May 28th!"

The post included a link to the site to reserve tickets, which can be found here.

One Republic's songwriter and singer Ryan Tedder on Wednesday morning was quoted by Mako as saying "we wanted to perform in Israel and visit it since we established the band. This performance will be the realization of the wish of a lifetime. We can't wait."

The concert is to take place in Park Hayarkon; seating on the grass is priced at 320 shekels with an early reservation price of 250 shekels, and seating in the "gold ring" stands at 500 shekels.

The band has propelled itself to stardom largely through social media, initially using Myspace to get exposure and then getting massive views on YouTube.

It was founded 12 years ago with the debut album Dreaming Out Loud, and its second album Waking Up released in 2009.

Tedder has also made a name for himself as a leading songwriter and producer for top singers including Adele, Beyonce, Maroon 5, One Direction and others.
