MK Yifat Kariv (Yesh Atid) responded to reports from foreign media that the IDF struck Syrian Army targets in Dimas and near Damascus on Sunday - by claiming it was a calculated political move by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu before the elections.

"Bibi cannot put together an alternative coalition and decided to choose the path of terror and intimidation and inflaming the Middle East," Kariv stated shortly after the news aired. "Mr. Prime Minister, this time it will not work."

Earlier Sunday, Syrian state television reported that the IDF struck two targets near Dimas and the Damascus International Airport, where Maariv reported the Syrian army was storing Russian-made S300 surface-to-air missiles.

The Syrian army confirmed facilities were damaged later Sunday, and said the strikes proved Israeli involvement in the Syrian Civil War.

"This direct aggression by Israel was carried out to help the terrorists in Syria, after our armed forces secured important victories in Deir Ezzor, Aleppo and elsewhere," the army said.

Israeli media and officials have yet to officially respond to the reports.
