Hours after a lethal terror attack at a Jerusalem synagogue Tuesday morning, an Arab citizen of Israel was arrested in possession of an improvised sub-machine gun at the same Hahagana train station in Tel Aviv where an IDF soldier was stabbed to death by an Arab terrorist last Monday.

The 21-year-old aroused the suspicions of passersby as he loitered by the train station, leading police on patrol in the area to stop him.

In his bag officers found a modified Carl Gustav sub-machine gun and a black mask, at which they arrested him and brought him in for investigation, reports Walla!.

In investigation by the Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet) and Tel Aviv police, the suspect reportedly refused to explain why the lethal weapon was in his possession and what his goal was.

The suspect is a resident of Barta'a, an Arab town that straddles the 1949 Armistice line in the Wadi Ara region to the east of Hadera.

It has not yet been verified whether the incident falls into the realm of criminal or terrorist activity, although as noted the suspect was apprehended at the scene where 20-year-old IDF soldier Almog Shiloni hy''d was murdered.

Shiloni's attacker was identified as Nur al-Din Abu Hashiya, an 18-year-old from Shechem (Nablus) in Samaria who had illegally entered into sovereign Israeli territory. Hashiya tried to snatch Shiloni's weapon but was prevented by passersby from doing so, at which he fled before being arrested.
