Zehava Shaul, the mother of soldier Oron Shaul who was killed during Operation Protective Edge in Gaza this past summer, left for London on Monday night, where she will meet with Jewish community leaders and ask them to help in pressuring Hamas to return her son’s body.
Oron Shaul served in the Golani Brigade and was aboard an APC that was hit by Hamas terrorists in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza. He was declared a fallen soldier whose place of burial is not known by the IDF Chief Rabbi.
Before leaving for London, Zehava Shaul said that the uncertainty about the fate of her son is the hardest thing for her.
"I hope London will help in bringing Oron home," she said, according to Channel 10 News. "My feeling is that maybe he's still alive and will return safe and sound."
Shaul also appealed to senior Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and reminded him that his daughter received medical treatment in Israel.
"I demand, Haniyeh, that you give me back my son, just like the State of Israel gave you your daughter back safe and sound. I demand you give me back Oron,” she said.
