A terrorist from Gaza, armed with a knife and spike, was caught Sunday by the Security Coordinator of Moshav Shokeda, not far from the religious agricultural community, in the Sdot Negev Regional Council.

The terrorist had infiltrated near Nahal Oz and was caught about seven kilometers from the Gaza security fence. He is being interrogated by the Israel Security Agency (ISA, or Shin Bet).

This is the first known terrorist infiltration from Gaza since the ceasefire that ended Operation Protective Edge, Israel's 50-day onslaught on Hamas in Gaza. Two weeks ago, a rocket was fired at the Gaza Belt region.

Residents of the Eshkol Regional Council reported September 15 that a rocket was fired from Gaza, falling outside of one of the local communities.

The IDF confirmed that a mortar shell fired from Gaza struck the Israeli side of the security fence, in the first such attack by Gaza terrorists since the ceasefire went into effect on August 26.
