IDF soldiers from the Nahal, Paratrooper, Armored and Engineering brigades have been hard at work on Tuesday and overnight in Gaza, alongside forces from the Golani and Givati brigades.

Troops backed by the Israeli Air Force are still battling it out with terrorists while locating and destroying dozens of "terror tunnels" and concealed rocket launchers meant for use against Israeli civilians.

On Wednesday morning, the IDF stepped up Operation Protective Edge, launching a new offensive deep into northern and central Gaza in a bid to root-out long-range rockets and other terrorist positions. Hamas is said to have sustained heavy casualties in the fighting, while four IDF soldiers were lightly wounded.

At 3 p.m. a limited pause in the fighting was implemented for humanitarian purposes. The Israeli security cabinet agreed to the four-hour truce, which was greeted by intensified rocket fire from terrorists towards southern Israel.
