Jewish Home party head, Economics Minister Naftali Bennett, met Pope Francis at Heichal Shlomo in Jerusalem and welcomed him to the Holy City Monday.
"Welcome to the state of Israel,” Bennett told the pontiff. “The state of Israel is the realization of the vision of the prophets, who foretold our return to the Holy Land, in the spirit of the verses 'the eternity of Israel shall not lie' and 'Torah shall spring forth from Zion.'”
"We are happy to host you in the city that has been our capital for 3,000 years, the city of peace, Jerusalem.”
After the meeting, Bennett wrote on Facebook: “I noticed that he had kind eyes.”
