Jews who visited Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, in recent days were astonished to find that the tomb of Dov Ber Schneerson, brother of the late Lubavicher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, had been vandalized.

Unknown vandals spray-painted swastikas on the tomb, which was erected six years ago as a memorial to the man, who was murdered by Nazi soldiers during the Holocaust.

Dov-Ber was buried in a mass grave that was only discovered 18 years ago.

The desecration of the grave follows a slew of anti-Jewish attacks throughout the Ukraine, where the ongoing confrontation between the pro-Russian east and pro-European west has led many on both sides to blame Jews for their plight.

Just last Saturday a synagogue in the southern Ukrainian city of Nikolayev was firebombed, in the second such incident in as many months. Nikolayev is the birthplace of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
